Strivee
An e-learning platform for Gen Z in West Africa to learn tech, computer, business and hard skills, and software that are not taught in the university. It was startup intended to address the challenge of unemployment in Nigeria.
General Overview
In an era where everything is getting smarter and digital, Strivee is building an ecosystem of innovators in Nigeria. A network incubating, transforming and accelerating disruptive ideas, products and methodologies that would elevate the education sector and annihilate unemployment in Nigeria.
At Strivee, the aim was to invent a go-to market and user-friendly product that would provide the appropriate resources, platform, mentorship and network needed to kickstart your desired career in tech.
Problem Statement
Unemployment has grown to become one of the most threatening problems in Nigeria. The situation is not showing any sign of leaving soon as the number of qualified and certified individuals in the country are in greater proportion compared to the number of jobs available. One of the reason behind this challenge is our education system in Nigeria.
Goals & Objectives
- To design a solution that will reduce the unemployment rate by 15% in 2 years.
- To design a user-friendly application that encourages intentional learning.
- To build a platform where job seekers come to seek for new skills and jobs.
- To develop an easy-to -use software for companies to recruit talents.
- To invent a go-to market product that would provide the appropriate resources needed tokick-start your desired STEM career.
Targeted Audience
Strivee targets the following: undergraduates, early graduates, job seekers, employees and employers.
Research Method
In the user-centered design process, it is essential to put the user at the center of every development decision. By doing user interviews, I was able to learn more about the requirements and desires of users as well as their histories, both of which would help me create a positive user experience.
With my team, I was able to conduct user research interviews, market survey and product requirements research from result of the first two.
Design Process
User Research
The user research focuses on understanding users behaviours, needs, thoughts, frustrations and motivations when learning online. A qualitative research method was employed, a total of 140 participants were interviewed. Most of them were undergraduates and thirty percent were early graduates in Lagos, Enugu and Oyo State, Nigeria. They were aged 18 - 27. Based on the interview conducted, each participant narrated his/her experience with learning and challenges faced.
Empathy Map
After going through all the interviews done (a major part of qualitative research), I went ahead to organize notes - as summaries - into an empathy map, to look into different opinions of the interviewees; what they say, do, feel and think .
User Personas
I came up with an engaging user personas that fits the left demographics, as well as highlight the pain points and goals of the users.

Assets & Visuals
I began working on the product's aesthetics after several sessions of research and data gathering. I originally drew some of the concepts as sketches before switching to Balsamiq for wireframes. For the final design iteration, I chose Figma.

Following several iterations on paper, I moved on to my software tool. I first design the interaction in low fidelity to test different ideas and iterations before deciding on the best iteration to convert to high fidelity.

Achievements & Learnings
This was a project that I started with some friends during my final year . Because of the timeframe and the project's validity, Strivee is one of the most memorable and challenging projects I've ever worked on. This design taught me a lot about User Research and Surveys.
One of the most important lessons I learned from working on this project was time management. Because the project was given to me to test my design skills, the timeframe for completing the project was very tight, but I was able to manage my time to meet the deadline.
